Robert Ralston, sr., was the first carpenter and cabinet-maker, in 1820. The first grist-mill was erected on the present site of Leidigh's, by Martin Mason, in 1815. Burge, who also made wooden moldboards for plows, as well as plows themselves, from 1820 to 1830. John Murray, who also made gloves and moccasons of deer skins. He had worked in the United States armory at Harper's Ferry, and it is related that he received his pay in United States continental money, just prior to the great depreciation of that currency.
